Click the first link below to see a map of the Yucatan peninsula. There’s only one road from Cancun to Chetumal, and then Kohunlich is just a little west of Chetumal.

Go to the Expedia website–(third link) click car and cancun and plug in your dates and you can reserve a car to be waiting for you when your plane lands. Some rates are less than ten dollars a day.
The only thing you have to watch out for are the speed bumps (called TOPES). They can take off a muffler–or worse– if you hit them too fast.
