I am going on vacation with my mom and dad to Chicago, IL and to Los Angeles, CA. I want to know the attractions near these to places so that we could go. I heard that there is a North Avenue Beach or whatever it is called in Illinois. Please help! I will make this question extended, just in case. We are leaving a little after June 4. BTW, we are going by car, not by airlines. Thanks in advance!
I also put “chicago attractions” and chicago, IL attractions” in google. nothing came up.

Chicago is my favorite city, of course its the only big city I’ve been to for extended periods of time. There are so many things to do there. I recommend getting this pass that takes you a lot of places. I forget what it is called. They are busses that you either ride on the top level and it is open or you ride in a trolley. They drop you off at different locations and they narrorate along the way. It is definately worth it. You can get the tickets outside of the Water Tower Place I think. There are so many things to do. There is Shedd Aquarium, which I highly recommend. It is a really nice aqaurium, and their dolphin show is pretty cool. There is also the Field Musuem and the Musuem of Natural Science and History. Navy Pier is a must see too. They have a huge ferris wheel, a few other rides, and many restaurants. Another thing that I highly recommend is taking the architectural tour down the Chicago river. You ride in a boat in the Chicago river and they tell you about the buildings and landmarks you are going by. It is worth every cent. I loved it. There is also a skyline tour, which is pretty neat. I think you can get the tickets at Navy Pier. You might also want to go to Millenium Park. It is a really nice park, if you just want to go for a stroll. The place to shop is Michigan Avenue, otherwise known as the Magnificent Mile. I recommend eating at the Cheesecake Factory. They have great food. Also, definatley eat at Bubba Gumps. Their food is delicious, and it is a neat atmosphere. Also, a great restaurant is Brazaz. They have a really unique and fun way of serving you, and they have and out of this world salad bar. Some other things to do are go to the top of either the Sears tower or the John Hancock building. We did the John Hancock building, and that was pretty neat. There were fantastic views. Another thing you can do in chicago is go to a musical or play. Those are always good.;There are so many more things, I could just go on and on. Those are the some of the best things about Chicago though. Btw, I’m 14. Chicago is a great place for anyone of any age. It is a fabulous city. Also, beware, the traffic in Chicago is really busy. Oh and just for your knowledge, Oprah’s home is on the very top floor of the Water Tower Place. My family drove there too, but we live only about 3 hours away. Have fun in Chicago.

By all means go to Millenium Park and to the Art institute which is right next to it. From there it is a nice walk along the lake or a short ride to the Museum Campus which has The Field Museum of Natural History, the Planetarium, and the Shed Aquarium all connected by walkways and grassy park. On the way you will pass Buckingham Fountain. It will be on in June. Go there in the evening and it will be lit up with a color light show. You may also be able to catch an outdoor concert. June is one of the best times to visit Chicago.

The museums- I prefer the Field. I also think it’s cool to just walk around up there. There’s all kinds of shops and stuff. Good food, too.

if you go on the cta website (chicagotransitauthority.com), you can get the passes that someone below was talking about…i live in the south loop and have lived in chicago my entire life…the best places are the museums…i would not recommend the taste unless u like millions of people in one place all sweating…chicago is known for its comedy scene as well (second city, zanies, etc)…and chicago has a wonderful restaurant population…if u like steak go to chop house…don’t bother with gibsons, not worth it at all…for pizza go to giordanos and get stuffed crust…u won’t regret it
