Mr. Knowledgeable VI asked:
The city I have been to that has good public transportation is New York City. NYC has buses, taxies, subways, trains, and there are even hose and carriges in parts of NYC.

I was in Cancun Mexico and they had pretty good bus service. The busses went pretty much wherever you wanted to go for a dollar.

San Francisco’s is pretty good. And at least the cable cars are interesting. The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is a subway/surface train that is really pretty good, except that it does stop sometimes. But it goes way over into the East Bay, and is a major commuter and shopper feed. There are also trains (relatively old-fashioned ones) up from the Peninsula, and buses all over town. There are even ferry boats, but those are mostly used by tourists these days.

I think England has the best, especially since the free map they give out is nice & small & fits in your pocket. Have you ever had to get the New York city subway map, its gigantic! If you don’t know where to go everyone else knows it. The subway itself works real nice, maybe do some homework & printout a little tiny one from your computer before traveling…

Boston’s is wikkid old but it gets the job done. London, Paris, Montreal, and DC all have great systems.

Top 2 are: New York City & Tokyo. There are subways, taxis and trains; you can always get around in those cities. Most major cities in Japan are easy too. Also Honolulu, Hawaii is easy (the buses go everywhere and are not creepy; also lots of taxis). Other parts of Hawaii are not. You need a car on the outer islands.

NYC, Tokyo, and Washington DC are all very good clean systems.
