Yao’ s for Chinese. Westheimer at Gessner
Alameda’s - upscale Mexican I-10 at Bingle/Voss exit.
Carmelo’s Italian Memorial at Diary-Ashford
Middle Eastern - Fadi’s Westheimer at Dunvale
Fogo de Chao Brazilian Westheimer near Fondren
Ruth’s Chris Steahouse - fine Steaks on Richmond
Mark’s upscale gourmet dining lower Westheimer
There are tons of good restaurants. Most of the following is on the westside. If you are from out of state, Taste of Texas steak house is a good place to go. Sweet Mesquite is a good place to get a cheaper taste of Texas. Papasitos, Papas, and Papadeaux’s are all good. Taco Cabana is a great place for cheap texmex. For seafood: Goode Seafood Co.
All of the Landry’s group of restaurants are good. Some are not local Houston restaurants, however many are.
Thai: Vieng Thai
Hamburgers: Fuddruckers
Italian: Da Marco’s
Morrocan: Saffron
Vietnamese: Kim Son
French: Bistro Moderne
Indian: Indika
Chinese: P.F. Chang’s
My favorite International Restaurant is Tony’s. It’s expensive but worth every penny.

It all depends on what you’re looking for and where you live.
Try the B4 U Eat site, which lists tons of Houston area restaurants and has reviews by their patrons (including me).
